We will start in Tanger, to continue, visiting Chefchaouen Volubilis, Meknes, Fez, Azrou, Midelt, Errachidia, Merzouga, Erg Chebbi where we will go around the dunes by tracks and we will see the two oases of Merzouga, the nomads in jaimas, the village of Khamlia (also called “village of the blacks”), the mines of Mifiss, the desert plateaus and the oasis Tissardmine, Taouz, Rissani, La Cantera de Fósiles, Merzouga, Gorges of the Todra, Gorges of Dades, Boutaghrart, Skoura , Aït Ben Haddou, Telouet, Marrakech, Essaouira, Safi, Rabat, Larache, Assilah, Tangier and transfer to the port of Tangier, to board the ferry to Algeciras
Day 1: Tanger – Chefchaouen.
Reception at the port of Tangier. We will start the trip entering the Rif and arriving in Xaouen in the afternoon. Chefchaouen is a Berber city whose meaning is “the horns”, with a beautiful location and where the contrast of the white color of its houses arranged in different planes stands out on the green field watered by the Lau River. Dinner and accommodation with lots of charm.
Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fez.
Breakfast and walk through the Xaouen until our departure to Fez. On the way we will visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis and pass through the city of Meknes to see the Hedime square and the Bab Mansour. Finally we will bequeath to Fez. It is a beautiful city founded in the eighth century and the oldest of the Moroccan imperial cities. Its medina takes us to the thirteenth century, with artisans grouped by streets with activities reminiscent of the old guilds, and who live with the peasants who came here fleeing the drought of recent years. Dinner and accommodation in a riad.
Day 3: Fez – Azrou – Midelt.
Visit Fez with local guide in the morning. Its architectural riches, its fascinating medina and its magnificent historical monuments make Fez the cultural capital of Morocco. Travel in the direction of the Middle Atlas and visit the cedar forest, located in the village of Azrou and natural habitat of the monkeys. Arrival to the town of Midelt, where we will stay in a 4 * hotel with dinner included.
Day 4: Midelt – Errachidia – Merzouga.
To go to Merzouga from the port of Midelt we will arrive at the Errachidia reservoir. We will see the magnificent panorama of the Ziz valley that will lead us to the city of Erfoud (known as the “desert gate”). We will attend the sunset on top of the Borj d’Est that offers a wonderful landscape over the city of Erfoud. Then we will continue along the night track to reach the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Night in a lodge at the foot of the dunes.
Day 5: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi.
After breakfast, we will go around the dunes along tracks and see the two oases of Merzouga, the nomads in jaimas, the town of Khamlia (also called “town of the blacks”), the mines of Mifiss, the desert plateaus and the Tissardmine oasis. We will return to the lodge about 3 in the afternoon and then, mounted on dromedaries, we will go to the dunes to attend the sunset and sleep in a wild oasis located two hours away, in the heart of the dunes. Magic and unforgettable night!
Day 6: Erg Chebbi – Taouz – Rissani – The Fossil Quarry – Merzouga.
Upon returning from the desert, we will take the trail to Taouz to discover prehistoric engravings. Then, we will go to Rissani the old Siljimassa, an important center on the caravan routes that traded in Mali and Niger, with salt and slaves. We visit its famous door, the old palaces and the souk. At noon, we will eat the specialty of the city: the Saharan pizza. After lunch, we will visit the fossil quarry and return to the lodge.
Day 7: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges.
We will leave from the dunes in the direction of Erfoud to reach Tinerhir where we will visit the “fougartas” (old pipes of the fifteenth century), the palm grove of Tinhgir. We will arrive at the Todra Gorges, where we will have lunch. After lunch, we will cross the city and the Boulmane Dades valley to reach the Dades Gorges where, over time, the river has eroded the rocks to form a peculiar landscape. Dinner and overnight at a hotel.
Day 8: Dades – Boutaghrart – Skoura – Aït Ben Haddou.
Departure in the morning by track to the valley of the roses and the magnificent Berber village of Boutghrart where we have tea with a family. We keep track of the route of a thousand Kasbahs, this stage is out of the ordinary. We made several stops in interesting places: kasbahs, panoramic views, valleys, nomads in caves …. Arrival at the village of Skoura where we left the track and again road to the kasbah Ait Ben Haddou where they shot several international films such as Obélix, Gladiator or Sahara. Dinner and hotel accommodation.
Day 9: Aït Ben Haddou – Telouet – Marrakech.
We will visit the splendid Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou where films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Obelix, The Mummy, etc. were filmed. Then we will cross the mountain to discover the Kasbah of Telouet. At the end of the afternoon, we will return to Marrakech through one of the most beautiful ports in Morocco: the port of Tizi n’Tichka (2260 meters of altitude) with its wonderful landscapes. Night in a Riad in Marrakech.
Day 10: Marrakech
Visit the city of Marrakech: its old medina, its main historical monuments (tombs and mosques), its kasbahs, its famous Jemaa El Fna square … We will realize that Morocco is the capital of tourism. Night in the same riad.
Day 11: Marrakech – Essaouira.
